The chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from 2022 to 2026, Hon. Ahmed Tijani Mustafa, has declared that there is no disunity in the party, insisting that the ADC remains one united family.
Mustafa made the declaration in Kaduna during the inauguration of the ADC’s Kaduna State Presidential Campaign Committee.
He said the committee is a support group under the presidential campaign committee, explaining that every state is expected to have a presidential campaign structure to drive the party’s victory.
According to him, the Kaduna State Campaign Committee was officially inaugurated and would begin work immediately, continuing through the night and into the morning after the elections.
He said winning elections requires putting an effective itinerary on the ground, and one of the best itineraries is to have a support group that will move door to door, house to house, and village to village to canvass for votes and promote peaceful elections.
Addressing claims of polarization within the party, Mustafa said the English word “polarized” means being in one corner, but that is not the case with the ADC.
He said he does not believe there is any disunity, adding that what people do not understand is that politics is a game and that the ADC, which has been on the ground since 2006, has been evolving year after year.
He recalled that in 2025, a coalition brought people from the NNPP, APC, PDP, and other parties into the ADC, noting that friction is natural when different groups with different constitutions come together.
Mustafa said that when people with different party constitutions are brought together, one will say, “My constitution says this,” while another will say, “My constitution says that.” He said that is where the perceived problems come from.
He likened the situation to television networks, each with its own code of conduct. Despite those differences, he stressed, all ADC members are now in one office and one hall, discussing the progress of the party in Kaduna State.
He maintained that, as far as he is concerned, there is no such thing as polarization, Group A, Group B, or Group C, but only one united ADC.
Corroborating him, Hon. (Dr.) Abdul-Malik Rabiu Jaafar, FMNES, FCILRM, chairman and directorate of the Support Group, Presidential Campaign Council (ADC), Kaduna State, Hon. Auwalu Abdulmalik Radi Jibia, said the inauguration was for 75 members, including 42 executives.
Jibia said the council’s mandate is grassroots mobilization, voter education, and sensitization across the state.
He said the mandate had been given to them and that it was up to them to deliver without disappointing the party, adding that they would do their best to achieve success in the 2027 general election.
Speaking about unity, Jibia described it as a very strong word, noting that even in an extended family, a lack of unity is bound to occur at times.
He said the ADC is a family and that, as in an extended family, internal crises are expected, but the party does not want them to continue.
He stressed that the party now wants unity to secure victory in the 2027 election.
