Spotify added 11 million monthly active users in the third quarter of 2026, bringing its global audience to 788 million as the music-streaming platform continued expanding its subscriber base and digital offerings.
The Swedish company announced the figures on October 22, reporting an 11 per cent increase in monthly active users compared with the same period last year. Its paying Premium subscribers also rose by nine per cent year-on-year to 306 million, following the addition of six million subscribers during the quarter.
Spotify’s revenue increased by 16 per cent year-on-year to €5 billion, while operating income reached €672 million. Its gross margin stood at 33 per cent, reflecting continued growth in its core streaming business.
The results highlight the platform’s ability to attract listeners and paying subscribers across its global markets. Spotify said user growth during the quarter was recorded across all regions, including Europe, North America, Latin America and the rest of the world.
The company is also expanding beyond music streaming. Its recent initiatives include new creator membership options, the expansion of its podcast partner programme and plans to make audiobooks available in more than 180 markets by the end of 2026.
Spotify has also been investing in personalised listening tools, including its AI-powered DJ and prompt-based playlists, as it seeks to improve user engagement and compete in an increasingly crowded digital entertainment market.
Looking ahead, Spotify expects monthly active users to reach 818 million in the fourth quarter, alongside 316 million Premium subscribers. The company projects quarterly revenue of €5.2 billion and operating income of €820 million.
The outlook reflects Spotify’s confidence in continued audience growth, although competition, content costs and the company’s ability to convert free listeners into paying subscribers remain important factors for its financial performance.
