The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its National Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, appointing Senator Henry Seriake Dickson as chairman, presidential candidate Peter Obi as co-chairman and vice-presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as co-vice chairman.
The party announced the appointments on Sunday as it stepped up preparations for the next general election. The council is expected to coordinate campaign activities nationwide and mobilise support for the party’s political platform.
NDC National Chairman Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe was named vice-chairman, while the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, will serve as council secretary. Ibrahim Hussain Abdulkarim was appointed Director-General of the presidential campaign.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, was named chairman of the National Campaign Advisory Council. Other members of the campaign leadership include former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, Senator Victor Umeh, Buba Galadima, Professor Yakubu Ochefu and the party’s National Woman Leader, Dudu Manuga.
The party also named its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, as Director of Communication and Media, while retired Major General John Enenche was appointed Director of Security and Intelligence. The structure includes a 40-member advisory council and campaign coordinators for the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
In announcing the council, the NDC said it would provide strategic leadership and deliver what it described as a “people-centred and issue-based campaign” ahead of the 2027 polls.
The development follows the party’s efforts to expand its political organisation and prepare its structures for the election. TheDailyNewsHub previously reported on an NDC House of Representatives aspirant’s call for eligible voters to collect their PVCs, reflecting the party’s growing focus on voter mobilisation.
The campaign council is expected to be formally inaugurated in Abuja on Monday, October 26.
