The Independent National Electoral Commission has published the particulars of 19 presidential candidates cleared to contest Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
The list includes incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
According to the list published by INEC, the 19 presidential candidates and their parties are:
- Bola Ahmed Tinubu — All Progressives Congress (APC)
- Atiku Abubakar — African Democratic Congress (ADC)
- Peter Obi — Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)
- Senator Sandy Onor — Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
- Omoyele Sowore — African Action Congress (AAC)
- Donald Duke — Peoples Redemption Party (PRP)
- Okwori Ada Elizabeth Frederick — National Democratic Party (NDP)
- Chukwu Anita Zugwai — Young Progressives Party (YPP)
- Rufai Adekunle Omoaje — Action Alliance (AA)
- Adenuga Sunday — Boot Party
- Memeh Samuel — Democratic Liberty Alliance (DLA)
- Nwanyanwu Daniel Danerechukwu — Zenith Labour Party (ZLP)
- Okereke Sunday Chibuzor — Labour Party (LP)
- Okereke Iken Esther — National Rescue Movement (NRM)
- Abbas-Bin Aliyu — Action Democratic Party (ADP)
- Dikwa Suleiman Mohammed — New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)
- Adebayo Adewole Ebenezer — Social Democratic Party (SDP)
- Seyi Makinde — Allied Peoples Movement (APM)
- Yusuf Kabiru — Action Peoples Party (APP).
Tinubu will contest with Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate, while Atiku Abubakar’s running mate is former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi. Peter Obi will contest alongside former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
For the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Sandy Onor is the presidential candidate, with Umaru Babangida as his running mate. Onor’s candidacy had earlier been confirmed by the PDP after he emerged as the party’s consensus candidate.
The African Action Congress is fielding Omoyele Sowore, with Magashi Haruna Garba as his running mate. The Young Progressives Party’s candidate is Chukwu Anita Zugwai, with Egbeola Olawale Mertins as her running mate.
The National Democratic Party is represented by Okwori Ada Elizabeth Frederick, whose running mate is Chikwuemeka Uchenna Anthony, while the Action Alliance is fielding Rufai Adekunle Omoaje, with Shehu Hussaini as his running mate.
The Boot Party’s presidential candidate is Adenuga Sunday, with Mustapha Usman Turaki as his running mate. The Democratic Liberty Alliance is represented by Memeh Samuel, with Balogun Alex as his running mate.
The Zenith Labour Party is fielding Nwanyanwu Daniel Danerechukwu, with Hassan Khalid as his running mate, while the Labour Party’s presidential candidate is Okereke Sunday Chibuzor, with Konto Hajja Bintu as his running mate.
The National Rescue Movement is represented by Okereke Iken Esther, alongside Samuel Magdalene Gali, while the Action Democratic Party is fielding Abbas-Bin Aliyu, with Ike Chinazam as his running mate.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party’s candidate is Dikwa Suleiman Mohammed, with Abubakar Isah as his running mate. The Social Democratic Party is fielding Adebayo Adewole Ebenezer, with Bugaje Usman Mohammed as his running mate.
The Allied Peoples Movement’s presidential candidate is Seyi Makinde, with Ibrahim Adamu Bala as his running mate, while the Action Peoples Party is represented by Yusuf Kabiru, with Ofordile Peace Egobia as the vice-presidential candidate.
The publication of the candidates’ particulars is part of the electoral process that allows Nigerians and other stakeholders to scrutinise the information submitted by the candidates. INEC had set September 12, 2026, for publication of the final presidential and National Assembly candidate lists.
The 2027 presidential contest therefore features 19 candidates, with Tinubu, Atiku and Obi among the most prominent contenders, alongside candidates representing a broad range of political parties.
