The Youth Advocacy Coalition on Demographic Dividend, YAC-DD, has announced a statewide social media campaign to promote the Demographic Dividend Roadmap, DDR, in observance of International Youth Day 2026.
In a statement signed by C.Y. Atsen, Esq., Evidence-Based Advocacy/Communication Lead, the coalition said the campaign will start on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, across social media platforms of coalition members and partners.
Atsen said the initiative aims to bring the conversation about the DDR to the public and ensure young people understand their role in the state’s development.
He explained that the Demographic Dividend is not just a policy document or government agenda. According to him, Kaduna State has a young population with great potential, but having a young population alone does not guarantee progress.
“It becomes a dividend when young people are educated, healthy, empowered, economically productive, and meaningfully included in decisions that affect their lives and future,” he stated.
The coalition called on all members to participate in four key actions to advance the campaign.
First, members are to share their personal and organizational social media handles so the coalition can connect, follow, and amplify each other.
Second, members are encouraged to follow and connect with fellow coalition members and partners to build a stronger network that expands the campaign’s reach.
Third, the coalition asked members to share campaign materials including videos, infographics, articles, and other content that will be provided on the platform.
“Don’t just share. Engage. Comment. Repost. Discuss. Tag. Educate. Mobilize the statement said.
Fourth, members should use unified campaign hashtags to give the campaign a shared identity and help measure its impact. The hashtags are: #KadunaDDRoadmap, #EmpowerKadunaYouth, #UKinNigeria, #YouthDay.
Atsen said the goal is to transform every social media timeline into a space for awareness and action.
“Tomorrow, let every timeline become a space for awareness. Let every post spark a conversation. Let every conversation inspire action,” he said.
He emphasized that young people must understand they are not just beneficiaries of the future but co-creators of it.
“This is our moment to speak. This is our moment to educate. This is our moment to mobilize. This is our moment to act,” Atsen concluded.
The coalition closed the statement with a call for unity:
“Let’s get ready. Let’s show up. Let’s amplify the Demographic Dividend Roadmap. Together we can!”
