An aspirant for the Kwande West State Constituency seat in the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Mela Aondosoo Basil Ageshi, has pledged to revitalise the Adikpo London Abattoir to boost Internally Generated Revenue and improve public health in the area.
Hon. Mela, who currently serves as PSA to the Governor, made the pledge during a spot assessment of the abattoir, which he described as dilapidated, unhygienic and a “death trap” for users and consumers.
According to him, the facility has for long been left in poor condition under the management of the Market Committee. He noted that meat from the abattoir serves majority of homes, restaurants, kiosks and roadside marketers in Kwande West.
“It is important to give the abattoir a new look. The place is currently unhygienic and poses serious health risks to the people who patronise it daily,” he said.
The Kwande West hopeful assured residents of Shangev Ya and Nanev of his commitment to addressing their challenges even before the 2027 elections. He urged the people to identify their challenges and present them for immediate attention.
Hon. Mela said improving facilities like the abattoir is part of his plan to advance local government IGR and bring the dividends of democracy to the people in a hygienic and sustainable manner.
He called on the people of Kwande West to support his aspiration to represent them in the House of Assembly in the 2027 general elections.
