President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Paris, France, as he continues his three-week annual leave in Europe.
The President arrived in the French capital on Sunday, September 13, 2026, for the second leg of his European vacation, according to officials close to him. He was received on arrival by Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Ayodele Oke.
Tinubu had departed Abuja on August 30 to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave. The Presidency announced at the time that his first destination would be London, United Kingdom.
The State House said the President was expected to return to Nigeria after the working vacation and resume his engagements, including preparations for the 2027 general election.
The Presidency’s announcement described the trip as an annual leave and did not provide details of a formal official programme for the Paris leg.
Tinubu’s arrival in Paris comes as Nigeria is also represented at the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi by Vice President Kashim Shettima. The summit is taking place on September 12 and 13 under India’s 2026 BRICS presidency.
Reports indicate that Tinubu is not attending the BRICS summit in person, with Shettima representing Nigeria at the gathering.
The President’s Paris stay also coincides with a period of heightened diplomatic activity in France. The French Presidency’s published September calendar shows a series of official engagements involving President Emmanuel Macron and foreign leaders earlier in the month, although it does not list a meeting between Macron and Tinubu for September 13.
Tinubu’s current European trip is expected to conclude after the three-week leave announced by the Presidency on August 30.
