Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has called on Muslims in the state and across Nigeria to use the 2026 Eid-el-Maulud celebration to reflect on the virtues of peace, love, honesty, patience, humility and selflessness exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In a goodwill message marking the celebration, the governor expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the people the opportunity to witness another Eid-el-Maulud, which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Mohammed described the occasion as an opportunity for spiritual reflection and urged Muslims and other citizens to strengthen their relationship with Allah and one another while promoting righteousness, compassion and peaceful coexistence.
He said the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad remained an enduring guide for humanity, particularly in the areas of peace, kindness, generosity, truthfulness and service to others.
The governor also urged residents of Bauchi State to strengthen the bonds of unity and brotherhood, noting that the state’s ethnic, cultural and religious diversity should be regarded as a source of strength rather than division.
“Bauchi State is blessed with a rich diversity of people and traditions. We must continue to appreciate our differences, reject prejudice, and extend hands of fellowship to one another irrespective of religious or ethnic background. Our collective progress depends on our ability to live together in peace and harmony,” he said.
Mohammed further called on Muslims to intensify prayers for peace, security and economic prosperity in Bauchi State and Nigeria, particularly amid the country’s prevailing challenges.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing its development agenda before the end of its tenure, saying investments in healthcare, education, agriculture and infrastructure would continue to receive priority attention.
He said the administration remained determined to complete ongoing projects and leave a lasting legacy of development and prosperity for the people of the state.
On security, Mohammed assured residents that maintaining peace and law and order remained a major priority of his administration. He said security agencies were working to protect lives and property across the state.
The governor warned individuals and groups against actions capable of inciting violence, exploiting ethnic or religious differences or undermining peace in the state, stressing that offenders would face the full weight of the law.
While appreciating the continued support and cooperation of Bauchi residents, Mohammed wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful, blessed and hitch-free Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would continue to guide, protect and prosper Bauchi State and Nigeria.
