The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senatorial Candidate for Benue North-East Senatorial District, Thomas Tyolumun Unongo, has condemned the deadly attack on Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, which claimed the lives of four police officers and seven civilians, including a one-year-old child.
In a statement signed by his SA Media and Public Communication, Shaapera Sekegh, Unongo described the incident as “horrific, heartbreaking and unacceptable,” expressing deep sadness over the tragic loss of innocent lives.
The senatorial hopeful commiserated with the families of the victims, the Nigeria Police Force, and the people of Ayilamo and Logo LGA, urging them to remain strong in the face of the tragedy.
“Umongo called on the security agencies to urgently investigate the attack, apprehend the perpetrators and ensure that they are brought to justice,” the statement read.
Unongo further urged both the federal and state governments to strengthen security measures across vulnerable communities in Benue State.
He stressed that the people deserve to live and carry out their legitimate activities without fear of attacks.
The PDP candidate also prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for God to grant comfort and strength to their grieving families.
The attack on Ayilamo is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have plagued Logo and other border communities in Benue State.
