American rapper and business mogul Jay-Z has been announced as the headliner for the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, marking his first time performing on the NFL’s biggest entertainment stage.

The announcement was made on Monday, October 26, by the National Football League (NFL), Apple Music and Roc Nation. The performance is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has played a major role in shaping the Super Bowl halftime show since Roc Nation partnered with the NFL in 2019 to help produce the entertainment programme and select performers.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell welcomed the announcement, saying he had long hoped the rapper would eventually take the stage himself.

Jay-Z also reflected on his musical journey, linking the performance to the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, released in 1996.

“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,” he said in a statement. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”

The announcement follows a series of concerts celebrating milestones in Jay-Z’s career, including performances at SoFi Stadium over the weekend. The rapper is a 25-time Grammy Award winner and one of hip-hop’s most influential figures.

It remains unclear whether additional artists will join him during the halftime performance. The NFL’s announcement did not identify any guest performers.

Super Bowl LXI will take place on February 14, 2027, with the halftime show expected to attract a global audience.
