US President Donald Trump has launched America.gov, an artificial intelligence-powered government portal designed to give Americans a single digital entry point for information and access to federal services.
Trump unveiled the platform on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, describing it as an alternative to navigating thousands of separate government websites and forms.
“Instead of forcing citizens to search through the endless maze of tens of thousands of terrible government websites and rules, and more than 10,000 forms, you’ll now have one front door for every single question,” Trump said during the launch.
The administration describes America.gov as a “single digital point of entry” through which users can communicate with the federal government in plain language, obtain information and, where the technology and agency systems allow, complete government transactions.
The first version of the platform is available to the public, with additional services expected to be integrated over the coming months. Planned uses include helping people renew passports, begin Medicare enrollment, check federal student loan information, reserve federal campsites and access services for veterans.
The platform uses artificial intelligence to allow users to ask questions and describe what they need rather than having to determine which federal agency handles a particular service. Reports on the launch said the system is being developed with AI technology from Google’s Gemini and SpaceXAI’s Grok.
Trump also directed federal agencies to work toward integrating their public-facing services with America.gov. The stated objective is eventually to make a broad range of federal information and services accessible through the single platform rather than requiring users to navigate individual agency websites.
Joe Gebbia, the Airbnb co-founder who serves as the administration’s chief US design officer, has played a leading role in the project’s development. General Services Administration officials are also involved in providing the technical infrastructure for the platform.
The launch represents another attempt by a US administration to simplify access to federal government services through a central online platform. Previous administrations have pursued similar digital-government initiatives, although the scale and use of artificial intelligence distinguish the current project.
There are also questions about how effectively a single portal can connect the numerous federal agencies and systems involved in delivering government services. The administration says America.gov will expand progressively as agencies integrate their systems, meaning some services announced for the platform are not yet fully available through it.
The launch comes as the Trump administration continues to promote artificial intelligence as a tool for transforming government operations. America.gov is expected to evolve beyond providing information as more federal agencies connect their services to the platform.
