Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru Idibia, wife of Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has publicly expressed her ambition to become President of Nigeria.
Natasha made the declaration while celebrating her grandfather, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin, who recently marked his 92nd birthday.
In an emotional address to the prominent businessman and philanthropist, Natasha expressed her deep affection for her grandfather and promised to make him proud by attaining the country’s highest political office.
“I promise you, I will be the President of this country,” she told him.
She also assured the 92-year-old patriarch that she would continue to improve herself and work towards making him proud.
“You are amazing. You are like my baby right now. I love you so much,” Natasha said, according to reports of the birthday celebration. She added that watching her grandfather grow older had made her appreciate him even more.
“As you age, you become sweeter and better. It is so amazing to be around you, Grandpa, and sometimes I feel like crying,” she said.
Natasha further expressed hope that her grandfather would live to witness her political ambitions become reality, promising to make him proud.
“I promise you that I’ll be the president of this country before you know it. And I’ll make you very, very proud,” she said.
The declaration has attracted attention because Natasha is already an active participant in Edo State politics. She represents Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and has held a leadership position in the legislature. Recent reports identify her as the Assembly’s Minority Leader.
Her grandfather, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, is one of Edo State’s most prominent businessmen and traditional figures. Known as the Esama of Benin, he has built a long-standing reputation in business, education and philanthropy. He marked his 92nd birthday on September 11, 2026.
Natasha’s declaration, however, represents an expression of political ambition rather than a formal presidential campaign announcement. She did not announce a political party, presidential ticket or specific timetable for pursuing the office.
Her remarks nonetheless provide a glimpse into the political aspirations of the younger Igbinedion generation, coming from a member of the family who is already serving in elected office in Edo State.
For now, the promise made to her grandfather has added a new dimension to Natasha Osawaru’s growing public profile, with Nigerians now watching to see whether her presidential ambition will eventually translate into a formal bid for Nigeria’s highest political office.
