The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed that two individuals isolated in Yola, Adamawa State, over suspected Ebola symptoms have tested negative for the virus.

The agency’s Director-General, Dr Jide Idris, said laboratory samples collected from both individuals returned negative results after two rounds of testing. The cases were initially reported to the Adamawa State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre on October 30, 2026.

Following the report, health authorities isolated the individuals and activated public health measures while investigations were conducted to establish the cause of their illnesses. The development follows an earlier report of two suspected Ebola cases identified in North-East Nigeria, which prompted further surveillance and laboratory investigations.

Idris confirmed that Adamawa currently has no laboratory-confirmed Ebola case. He added that the previously confirmed infection in the Federal Capital Territory remains Nigeria’s only confirmed case.

Nigeria confirmed an imported Bundibugyo Ebola infection in October involving a woman who had travelled from Uganda. The patient was subsequently evacuated to Switzerland for further medical care. The development was earlier reported in TheDailyNewsHub’s coverage of Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola case in Abuja and the emergency response.

The NCDC urged Nigerians to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. It advised anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, severe weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting or diarrhoea, particularly after possible exposure, to seek immediate medical attention and provide healthcare workers with relevant travel or contact history.

The agency said it would continue working with the Adamawa State Government and other relevant stakeholders to monitor the situation and provide updates based on verified information.
