The Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun Old Students’ Association (CHSIOSA) has announced plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun, with a week-long programme scheduled for September 28 to October 4, 2026.

The Golden Jubilee celebration, themed around the school’s five decades of academic excellence, character formation, leadership and service, is expected to bring together old students, current students, staff, parents, community leaders and other stakeholders to celebrate the institution’s achievements and discuss its future.

Established 50 years ago, Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun has played a significant role in the educational development of Ilutitun and neighbouring communities, producing graduates who have distinguished themselves in various professions and contributed to the development of their communities and the nation.

According to the Golden Jubilee Publicity Committee, the anniversary programme will feature a variety of educational, social, sporting and community-development activities.

The activities include an environmental sanitation exercise tagged “Operation Let the Forest Fall,” a football match, tree and flower planting, a health talk, the CHS @ 50 Lecture, and an AI/Digital Training programme for teachers.

Others are an inter-school Quiz and Debate Competition, the “Let’s See Ilutitun Again” Rally, and a novelty football match between old and new students, tagged “The Old versus The New.”

The celebration will also feature the official dedication and commissioning for use of the newly built and fully furnished Legacy School Gate and the CHSIOSA Corper’s Lodge, as well as an awards ceremony, fundraising luncheon, Golden Jubilee Dinner and Networking event.

The anniversary activities will culminate in a Thanksgiving Service on October 4 at the Cathedral of Ebenezer, Diocese on the Coast, Ilutitun-Osooro.

Speaking on the significance of the anniversary, the Chairman of the Golden Jubilee Publicity Committee, Comrade Akinsuyi, said the celebration represents an opportunity to reflect on the school’s heritage, achievements and contributions to society.

Akinsuyi, while corroborating the position of the President of the association, High Chief Olusegun Netufo, described the anniversary as a celebration of the memories and achievements of generations of students and stakeholders.

She said, “50 years is not merely a milestone; it is a testimony to the enduring value of education and the collective efforts of generations of teachers, students, parents, old students and other stakeholders who have contributed to the growth of Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun.”

Also speaking, the Chairman and Co-Chairman of the Anniversary Fundraising and Planning Committee, Rev. Dr. Sunday Akingbelure and Dr. Olorunyomi Akinboyo, respectively, appealed to members of CHSIOSA and the general public to support the school through generous contributions.

They urged former students to give back to the institution that provided them with the foundation for their various achievements.

Akinsuyi also called on old students, current students, staff, parents, traditional institutions, government representatives, community leaders, friends of the school and residents of Ilutitun to participate actively in the Golden Jubilee celebration.

She stressed that the anniversary provides an opportunity for stakeholders to reconnect with their roots and collectively contribute to the continued development of the school.

Quoting the Yoruba saying, “One tree cannot make a forest,” the publicity committee urged all stakeholders to come together to celebrate the institution’s 50-year journey and support its vision for the future.

The association said the celebration is an opportunity to “come home, reconnect, celebrate and support” Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun as it marks five decades of learning, leadership and lasting memories.
