Nigerian music stars Davido and Rema have been announced among the headline performers for the 2027 edition of Afro Nation Portugal, with Congolese singer Fally Ipupa completing the festival’s initial headline lineup.

Omah Lay, Victony and Odeal are also among the Nigerian artists included in the first wave of performers announced for the festival, which will take place at Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Algarve, Portugal, from June 9 to 11, 2027.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, September 23, as organisers released the first phase of the lineup for the seventh edition of the Portugal festival.

Other artists named in the first announcement include Jamaican singers Shenseea and Valiant, Tanzanian singer Rayvanny, Bamby and Miimii KDS. Franco-Congolese singer GIMS is also listed as a special guest.

The 2027 event will open with a pre-festival party on June 8, followed by the three-day main festival from June 9 to 11. A closing party is scheduled for June 12. Additional artists are expected to be announced in subsequent lineup releases.

For the Nigerian music scene, the announcement continues the country’s strong presence at Afro Nation Portugal since the festival was launched in Portimão in 2019. Davido and Rema have previously performed at the festival, while several other Nigerian acts have featured prominently in previous editions.

The festival’s first-wave announcement also includes dedicated programming for amapiano and African electronic music. Kabza De Small, TxC, Dlala Thukzin, Young Stunna and other artists are among those announced for the Piano People stage, while the Afrotronic programme features performers including Caiiro, Djeff and Jamiie.

Afro Nation describes its Portugal event as a celebration of African and diaspora music and culture, with Afrobeats, amapiano and related genres forming a central part of the programme. The festival’s official website confirms the 2027 dates and location at Praia da Rocha in Portimão.

The 2027 edition will take place earlier in the summer than several recent Portugal editions, which have generally been held in July. Organisers are expected to reveal additional performers and further festival details ahead of the event.
