Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and pledged to work for the success of the Nyesom Wike-led Rainbow Coalition in the 2027 general elections.
Fubara made the declaration on Tuesday, October 27, at the unveiling of the coalition’s candidates in Port Harcourt, where he called on political supporters to put past disagreements behind them and work together.
The governor described the gathering as a reunion with his political family and acknowledged Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, alongside other political leaders who supported his emergence as governor.
Fubara also urged his supporters to recognise Wike’s leadership of the coalition, saying the political differences that previously divided the group should no longer stand in the way of cooperation.
“I’m here with all my heart, my soul, and my body, and I will do everything within my power to ensure that we have victory, not just for Mr President, who has stood for me in my most difficult time, but also to ensure that this power still remains in our own bloc,” the governor said.
He thanked Tinubu for supporting him during the political crisis in Rivers State and called for unity among members of the coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event also featured the unveiling of candidates for governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly seats. Kingsley Chinda emerged as the coalition’s governorship candidate, while other candidates were presented to supporters.
The Rainbow Coalition brings together political groups and members drawn from several parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with the stated objective of working together in the forthcoming elections.
Fubara’s latest declaration reinforces his alignment with Wike’s political camp following a prolonged disagreement between the two leaders that had divided Rivers State’s political structure.
