The Kaduna State Government has taken a significant step to improve healthcare delivery through the signing of a Partnership Charter aimed at creating a more efficient, transparent, and sustainable health commodity supply chain.
This initiative was announced during the inaugural Strategic Suppliers’ Interactive Session 2026 hosted by the Kaduna State Health Supplies Management Agency, KADHSMA. The two-day event in Kaduna was themed: “Strengthening Partnerships for an Efficient, Transparent, and Sustainable Health Supply Chain in Kaduna State.”
KADHSMA Executive Secretary, Pharm, Aisha Tukur Isyaku, led the session, with coordination from the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmad. It is part of Governor Senator Uba Sani’s broader reforms to enhance access to quality healthcare throughout the state.
Pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, procurement experts, development partners, regulatory agencies, and professional bodies participated in the meeting. Discussions centered on procurement systems, supplier performance, product quality, payment procedures, regulatory compliance, accurate forecasting, and the development of long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
A key achievement of the event was the signing of the KADHSMA–Supplier Partnership Charter. The charter commits both the agency and its suppliers to uphold transparency, professionalism, accountability, quality assurance, ethical procurement practices, and ongoing collaboration in delivering essential medicines and health commodities across the state.
Participants also adopted a communiqué with vital resolutions aimed at strengthening supplier relationships, boosting procurement efficiency, increasing accountability, and ensuring a consistent supply of quality health products throughout Kaduna State.
Highlighting the importance of the session, officials emphasized that strong public-private partnerships are vital to achieving Governor Uba Sani’s health sector goals. They noted that a resilient supply chain is the foundation of effective service delivery at primary, secondary, and tertiary health facilities.
The government reiterated its commitment to reforms that prioritize timely access to safe, affordable, and quality health commodities for every Kaduna resident.
With the charter in effect, KADHSMA and its partners are laying the groundwork for a supply system that minimizes stock-outs, prevents leakages, and guarantees value for money. Stronger Partnerships. Better Healthcare. A Healthier Kaduna State.
